During the past year, Terre des Hommes has helped over 40.000 vulnerable children and children who have been victims of child prostitution, webcam sex and other forms of sexual exploitation. We prevented children from becoming victim of sexual exploitation and by providing psychosocial and medical care we helped children to cope with their experiences. We also provided support to over a thousand victims’ families.
Street children who were forced into prostitution, beach boys who, out of sheer poverty, had paid sex with elderly ladies and victims of child sex tourists. In 2016, Terre des Hommes directly saved 2.067 child victims of sexual abuse in Asia and Africa. They were looked after in shelters, by foster families or in other places where they were safe from their exploiters.
