COVID-19 prevention essentials for Turkana shelter, Kenya
Terre des Hommes Netherlands has provided essential COVID-19 prevention items to the shelter of our partner SAPCONE in Turkana, Lodwar. The shelter accommodates 38 girl and 7 boy survivors of sexual exploitation, to protect them from further exploitation while keeping them safe from COVID-19. The children and the shelter team received items that promote hygiene and enhance learning.
Essential COVID-19 prevention
The hygiene and prevention items include disinfectant, soap, sanitizer and face masks.
Knapsack sprayers are meant for regular sanitising of the shelter.
Stationery and education materials assist the children to continue learning while observing social distancing from their tutors. The shelter also received shaving machines that will help limit the movement of the resident children in and out of the shelter during the COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ period.
With these essentials, Terre des Hommes Netherlands supports all 45 children and the shelter’s staff to effectively protect themselves from COVID-19 and to ensure all preventive measures are adhered to.
