Child abuse

Child marriage in Bangladesh

There are millions of early married girls in Bangladesh who are deprived of basic rights including education, nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and rights. From 2004 to 2016, the first phase project IMAGE provided support to young girls that are already married, ensuring a dignified life for them to realize their human rights and potentials. The target number of early married girls to be supported was 4,500 in three districts of Bangladesh's nortern region.

New target: helping 9,000 girls

To ensure many young girls from other areas can receive support when needed, IMAGE PLUS (December 2016 - 2020) was designed with an extended target of 9,000 early married girls and their families in 72 villages in 3 Northern districts in Bangladesh.

IMAGE PLUS is funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, implemented by Terre des Hommes Netherlands as the lead, with RedOrange Media & Communications Ltd, Terre des hommes Foundation (Kurigram), SKS Foundation (Gaibandha), and Pollisree (Nilphamari).
