300 Tanzanian girls protected from Female Genital Mutilation

Terre des Hommes Netherlands has protected 300 girls aged between 8 and 16 years from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the Kuria district of Northern Tanzania. During the Kuria cutting season, the girls have temporarily stayed at a protection camp to avoid being mutilated. A festive graduation ceremony concluded the protection camp at the end of the cutting season.

The Dutch police is now allowed to apply Sweetie. Today, a majority of the House of Representatives approved an amendment to the legislative proposal Computer Crime III which enables the Dutch police force to use a virtual child like Sweetie in the investigating and possible prosecution of online child sex abusers.

Sexual exploitation of children in Kenyan tourism on the rise

Sexual exploitation of children in the travel and tourism industry in Kenya is on the rise, according to a recent study by ANPPCAN Regional Office in Kenya, partner of Terre des Hommes Netherlands. Almost one third (32%) of the children interviewed have stated that they are victims of sexual exploitation.
