The House of Representatives voted yesterday to enforce a compulsory declaration of responsible sourcing with respect to child labour for all businesses. Labour MP Roelof van Laar submitted the private member’s bill to combat child labour used in products and services sold throughout the Netherlands.

300 Tanzanian girls protected from Female Genital Mutilation

Terre des Hommes Netherlands has protected 300 girls aged between 8 and 16 years from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the Kuria district of Northern Tanzania. During the Kuria cutting season, the girls have temporarily stayed at a protection camp to avoid being mutilated. A festive graduation ceremony concluded the protection camp at the end of the cutting season.
