The innovative projects via which Terre des Hommes highlights child exploitation can still count on interest from abroad. On 7 October, a delegation from Terre des Hommes gave a presentation to the Italian parliament on Sweetie and the VR Experience.

 

Terre des Hommes heeft met het Sweetie project de Transparant Prijs gewonnen in de categorie ‘Meest impactvolle boegbeeldproject’. Aan de prijs is een bedrag verbonden van 25.000 euro.

The Terre des Hommes Sweetie project has won the 'Transparant Prijs' in the category 'Flagship project with the most impact’. The award corresponds to a cash amount of € 25.000.

Terre des Hommes Netherlands has achieved remarkable success in its fight against child sex tourism in Asia. A 66-year-old French national under surveillance by private detectives of the child protection organisation was arrested last month in Nepal. The man is suspected of having abused a 15-year-old boy.

Every year, Terre des Hommes Netherlands removes hundreds of children from exploitative and oppressive situations. Many of these are children in Asia that fall victim to child trafficking and sexual exploitation. A growing number of children in Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines and Thailand end up in prostitution and behind the webcam.

In Nepal is een Deense kindersekstoerist tot negen jaar gevangenisstraf veroordeeld voor kindermisbruik. De man was in Denemarken al eerder veroordeeld voor kindermisbruik. Na zijn vrijlating reisde hij naar Nepal waar hij jarenlang als kinderdarts kon werken.

In Nepal a Danish sex offender is sentenced to nine years imprisonment. It was not his first conviction. In 2003 the man was released from three years in prison in Denmark. After his release he travelled to Nepal where he worked as a pediatrician for years.

 

In Engeland is opnieuw een kindermisbruiker veroordeeld als gevolg van de ‘Sweetie’ campagne uit 2013. Het is de tweede veroordeling in Engeland en de zesde veroordeling wereldwijd. De man is veroordeeld tot 28 maanden celstraf. Hij kan nog in beroep gaan tegen de veroordeling.

The man, a former policeman, was caught because he was chatting with the virtual girl that helped Terre des Hommes detect a thousand perpetrators of webcam child sex. He was sentenced to sixty days in prison.
