SDGs Plan of Action
Theme of the day was the role of Parliament in realising the 2030 Agenda. This was marked by the launch of the strategic plan for the implementation of the SDGs in Kenya. “The solution of all the problems we have lay in the SDGs. We as MPs must be aware of them so that we can educate our people on them”, according to Hon. Esther Passaris, Woman Representative for Nairobi County.
Focus on Online Safety
The SDGs Parliament Open Day provided a platform to Kenya’s SDG partners (civil society and non-governmental organisations) to showcase their work. Because of the uniqueness of this project, Terre des Hommes Netherlands focused its presentation on Online Safety for Children, specifically our project addressing Online Child Sexual Exploitation.
The lobby and presentations during the SDGs Parliament Open Day were spearheaded by the Joining Forces Alliance. Together with ChildFund Alliance, Plan International, Save the Children International, SOS Children’s Villages International and World Vision, Terre des Hommes have formed the Joining Forces Alliance. The Alliance will focus on two work streams – advocating for the swift implementation of all child rights, and ending violence against children. In Kenya, the Alliance operates under the significant header ‘Child Rights Now’.
