Tracking down perpetrators

In order to stop child sexual exploitation, it is important that victims can and dare stand up for themselves and that perpetrators do not get away unpunished. Terre des Hommes therefore assists children in reporting crimes. They can count on legal assistance and support during criminal prosecution. We also train local police and justice system staff for them to learn how to properly deal with victims and perpetrators of sexual exploitation. In the past year, Terre des Hommes helped 644 children who were victims of sexual exploitation in Asia to prosecute the perpetrators. We assisted the children for example in reporting the crime, supported them during the court case or assisted the police in collecting evidence against the perpetrators. We trained 2.797 police and justice system employees in tracking down child sex abusers and how to deal with young victims.
