TOUCHING PHOTOGRAPHS IN EXHIBITION 'THIS IS ME'

Photographer Marieke van de Velden visited two shelters for victims of sexual exploitation in Thailand for Down to Zero. You can see her touching photographs as of 20 November at Humanity House in The Hague.

The photographer listened to the children to experience what regaining a perspective of a future with good assistance means to them. Who do they draw when they are allowed to be themselves again? The photographs that she took of the children can be seen as of 20 November in the photo exhibition This is me.

'My mask is complicated: from the outside I may look really raw, but from the inside I am kind and caring. The star represents the light shining within me.'
Fah (15), mother of a two-year-old boy.

Through this exhibition, Down to Zero aims to show not only the gravity of sexual exploitation of children, but also show that children can rebuild their lives when they are given some attention and assistance.

The exhibition is free to visit from Tuesday 20 November until Sunday 16 December.
