Online Child Sexual Exploitation in Cambodia is rapidly growing
Terre des Hommes’ partners in Cambodia have just launched a new developed Online Resource Learning Center to tackle Online Sexual Exploitation of Children.
The Online Learning Center is focused on creating awareness raising among children and youth, parents and carers and professionals working on Child Protection topics.
From definitions to forms of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children, the Online Learning Center teaches risk factors, how to identify and report Online Sexual Exploitation, legal frameworks and how to keep a safe environment to protect children online.

Internet growth in Cambodia
The internet penetration in Cambodia is remarkably unpredictable, according to Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia, more than 16 million subscriptions for an 18 million population. This hugely increased use of the Internet has contributed simultaneously pros and cons to users, especially adult who has been assessed to be more prone to stay connected. One to mention on the cons is the risk of Online Sexual Exploitation, especially on children.

The courses have a huge impact on the participant’s learning: “the course is very important because it has improved my current knowledge on Online Sexual Exploitation of Children and I also know a lot about risk factors. I will share the gained knowledge with my colleagues and to my students to encourage their engagement in preventing”, said a teacher who recently attended a six-module course at the Online Learning Center.
