Country Profiles (Africa Region)

In Ethiopia, we focus on supporting children on the move and related, interlinked issues of child exploitation, mainly child trafficking, unsafe migration, child sexual exploitation, child labour, child marriage, female genital mutilation and humanitarian assistance.  We support vulnerable Internally Displaced Children who flee their homes and support girls and young women to actively participate in decision-making spaces. We work with local organisations and networks in the implementation of both development and humanitarian projects.

In Kenya, we focus on curbing sexual exploitation of children, child labour and child trafficking and unsafe migration. We work with communities, government, private sector, civil society organisations and children themselves, at the centre, to address systemic and structural drivers that expose children to exploitation.

In Uganda, we work on preventing child sexual exploitation, child trafficking and unsafe migration, the worst forms of child labour and violence against children. In addressing these issues, we work together with local civil society organisations

In Tanzania, we focus on stopping child trafficking for child labour and on fighting sexual exploitation of children and the ensuing child marriage of children with disabilities. We focus on strengthening systems, building the capacities of government agents, and community leadership, working closely with local CSOs and building the capacities of communities’ champions to spearhead social change.
