Belem Azéta temporarily at home in Burkina Faso

January 26th, 2021

Belem Azéta is 24 years old and lives with her 3 children temporarily in Burkina Faso due to the conflicts in her own home.

Real changes in safety and health

"My name is Belem Azéta, I am 24 years old, married and mother of three children, two girls and a boy. I am a housewife and I am from Yorsala. At the moment we live in Burkina Faso because we are displaced because of the conflicts.

I got to know Tdh through my sisters. Thanks to your support, especially your help with medical care, but also with raising awareness and finally the fact to brighten up our children every week, we are able to forget a little about our worries at the moment".

"I have been able to see real changes concerning our safety and health but also mentally thanks to your humanism. My dream is that all this will come to an end and that we can finally go home".

Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso faces many challenges: the Sahel region has been severely affected by conflict, resulting in massive displacement of people. The country is also affected by increasing competition for diminishing resources and climate change, associated with poverty and a lack of livelihood opportunities. Terre des Hommes offers protection and health services.

That is why we have entered into our recently completed Joint Response program in Burkina Faso

  • Hosted awareness-raising sessions on child protection and gender-based violence to more than 25,000 people
  • psychosocial support to 8,700 members of the community
  • Established 5 child-friendly spaces where nearly 8,500 children benefited from emotional support and informal educational activities
