Mimi’s Journey to Recovery

September 11th, 2020

Mimi is a 12-year-old girl from Batam, Indonesia. She comes from a poor family where they often move and rent in different places. Her parents divorced, however the father has remarried and lives in Sumatra island. Occasionally, she is still in contact with her father and receives some money. Mimi lives with her mother who had also remarried but had recently separated. The mother works as a remote hairdresser, providing haircut, hairwash, makeup, and traditional massage.

Mimi kocht groenten voor haar moeder op een nabijgelegen markt vlakbij hun huis.

Down to Zero

Through local partner organizations such as YEP, this programme supports children and young people to defend their rights, encourage communities to become safer and protective of children, and enables local governments to improve and implement related policies, laws, and regulations.
